So many levels of puns going on there. Sweet.
I just wanted to hit the legions McShow faithful out
there with a quick lil' note about a must-see gig at
12 Galaxies tonight. It was on the end of the last
Showy McShow email (copied below), but I'm figuring
since most of you don't even read the FIRST half
anyway...
Skerik is one of my absolute favorite sax machines. He
is relentlessly intense in his powerful playing, and
is insanely creative in his compositions. You know him
from such bands as Garage a Trois, Les Claypool,
Critters Buggin', Dead Kenny Gs, Tuatara, and many
more. The man is a monster and tonight is a rare
chance to see him leading his own band, up close and
skary as hell.

Just try to tear me away from this one! Go ahead and
try! Some musicians don't seem to play music as much
as CHANNEL the stuff. Skerik is just such a sax
player. His big ol' 7-piece is loaded some of the most
smokin' horns and mind-blowing orchestration you'll
hear anywhere. Just go.

Blue Turtle Seduction @ Connecticut Yankee $8
Rock the hell out of your week with this up-and-coming
high-energy Tahoe jamgrass band. Blue Turtle has
gotten consistently better every time I've seen 'em
over the last couple years, and everyone was raving
about their last High Sierra set. It's just
fast-pickin' fun.

Jesus Diaz y su QBA @ Union Square $FREE
6pm–7:30pm. SF Jazz is putting on this sweet free gig
right in the center of commerce-land. I've been
hearing about Jesus Diaz for a while but have yet to
see him. He's a percussionist from Cuba and leads a
big ensemble of Afro-Cuban jazz funk with a bit of
rumba for good foot stompin' measure. All free!

Beatbox vs. Brass Mafia @ Amnesia $FREE
This sounds pretty whacky. Badass local beatboxers
will duke it out with our own Brass Mafia in a rumble
that's sure to shake the Mission to its core. Nasty.
