Below is yet another abbreviated teaser to the Showy McShow. Really
it's just (and always has been I guess) a self-serving thing. I'm
gonna check out the Boom Boom Room tomorrow night late and I think
I'll also be at Bruno's Friday night early, so I could use some
company from you lovely people. Also on here are a couple of shows
I'll have to miss, but that doesn't mean you should make the same
mistake.

Join me! These cats are the incredible jazz/funk musicians from Karl
Denson's band, the Tiny Universe. Their side project is a live
electronica thing with jazz and funk roots and even some wild visual
stuff. Picture Theivery Corp or St. Germain done completely LIVE. You
should come dig it, I think it'll be great.

Jazz Mafia Tribute to Miles Davis @ Bruno's $8
EARLY SHOW, 7pm! SF's cream of the crop jazz musicians will be
performing Miles' album "Birth of Cool" in its entirety. The Jazz
Mafia's finest will be in full effect, with special guest badasses
such as Marcus Shelby on bass. That's a hell of a way to spend happy
hour in my opinion. Let's go!

This band is HOT. They are a big ol' Afro-Samba-Brazillian Funk outfit
with awesome percussion and the kinda energy that just rocks the crap
out of the room. It's a pre-Carnaval party, so they'll be bound to be
throwin' down.

Papa Grows Funk @ Boom Boom Room $25
There is a reason why this is so pricey, it'll be fantastic. These
guys are one of the biggest names in New Orleans funk, and they don't
come around nearly often enough. Spectacular funk band.
